and well being. Dehydration can be a
very serious problem especially with
this warm summer weather

Cats’ and dogs’ bodies are made up of 80% water. They need to consume one ounce of water per pound! It is very important to give your pets access to fresh and clean water all the time. Also to be sure they’re drinking enough!!

SIGNS
The signs of dehydration include
sunken eyes, lethargy, loss of appetite,
dry mouth, vomiting, diarrhea, and
depression. If you think that your dog
or cat may be dehydrated contact your
Veterinarian right away.
Way’s to Keep Your Pets Cool and Hydrated This Summer
- Provide access to cool water at all times
- Make sure to bring water with you for your
pets! Whether on a long car ride or a hike in
the woods, if you are thirsty so are they! - Provide a cool place to cool off out of the
sun - Try adding some water to their dry food
- Try a pet drinking fountain
- Try giving your dog a Kong with peanut
butter inside that has been frozen for a tasty
cool treat!
- make sure to get peanut butter that does
not contain Xylitol
